In his opening address to the CSWP Wicked Problems Summit, ISRM President Lord Toby Harris, delivered an impactful message on why a strategic approach is crucial in tackling contemporary “wicked problems”.
With an increase in the prevalnce and complexity of global challenges facing Governments and Organisations alike, ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine conflict, to an ongoing rise in extreme weather events and rapid technological shifts, decision-makers must learn from historal precedent and better prepare for the ongoing changes that lie ahead.
Learning from past crises equips us to better navigate future uncertainties, both on a communitiy a global level. The risks of proactive action are far preferable to the long-term dangers of complanency.
